First group of ladies on the ice now, including the very first athlete, Canada's Kaetlyn Osmond.
I spoke to Kaetlyn back in the fall, her favourite place in Canada? Marystown, NFLD. Her hometown. Shout out to Newf
I just spoke to Tessa, "I think the skate was actually pretty strong, of course the twizzle wasn't ideal. I thought our approach was pretty bang-on."
Kaetlyn is the first ever female Winter Olympian from Newfoundland. Shout out to my home province!
And Scott too, he talked about the loud cheer for the Russia couple, "Our hearts go out to the Russians, we lived that back in Vancouver, to see it here, we're so happy for them," he said, and then jokes, "I don't know about you guys but it felt like I was at a hockey game."
Canada's Kaetlyn Osmond stays on the ice after warm-up. Might as well get it over with first! One last word from coach Walia and she's off.
Hahaha Paula Nichols, the second-most famous Newfoundlander here in Sochi?
She's an absolute natural. Kaetlyn Osmond finishes to big applause.
Great performance by Kaetlyn Osmond!
Season's best 62.54 for Kaetlyn Osmond. @Pchiddy in the kiss n' cry! Along with the rest of the skaters.
She looked very happy with that skate, and the Canadians looked even more enthused. If Kaetlyn can move up in this, it'll be great news for Canada.
I'm headed down to ice-level to talk to Kaetlyn, be right back to let you know what she has to say.
Isn't She beautiful out there ?!!!
Kaetlyn in first after two skaters. Eight skaters still to skate.
Nathalie Weinzierl from Germany on the ice now.
Kaetlyn told me her coach Ravi Walia just told her to have fun, right before her skate.
So now, with Canada in front and surely moving on to the free skates / dance....the question is who will skate their pairs free program. And...I have an idea...
Kaetlyn Osmond's 62.54 stands the test of group one. She's first. Second group warming up on the ice now.
I just saw Dylan Moscovitch with his skates. Might mean he is getting ready to skate with Kirsten Moore-Towers in the team pairs free skate later tonight. Canada has a limited amount of time after the ladies shorts to submit their entries.
